SPANISH ROOTS

Like Italian parmesan or French Champagne, major bicycle brands are frequently deeply linked with their country of origin. Orbea Bicycles are uniquely tied to the Basque country of Spain through a century of supporting local cycle sport and their dedication to maintaining key elements of bike assembly within the region.

CRAFTED WITH PRECISION, EVERY TIME

Orbea is the second oldest bike brand still in existence. They began building bicycles in 1930. By the late 1960s, they were the top bike manufacturer in Spain and an admired brand throughout Europe. The Orbea factory in Mallabia remains home of all design and R&D, and includes an in-house carbon frame testing facility. While bicycle frames are now manufactured elsewhere, each bike is assembled at their factory by a single person, which means their quality control is second to none.

THE FULL PACKAGE

Orbea’s strong support of regional bike racing in the mountainous region of their home base in the Basque Country of Spain turned Basque cyclists into worldwide stars as high-altitude, featherweight climbers. This rich road racing heritage included off-road accolades after the brand added mountain bikes to the lineup in 1989. And a unique element of the Orbea brand is their focus on bicycle painting, all of which is completed in the factory in Spain with a level of customization no other brand has achieved.
