Until now there was little chance of finding an off-road riding pant that promised a warm, dry lower half and promoted a full range of motion during the toughest months of the year. We changed that. We borrowed a few design elements from our Cargo Shorts, like the smooth-wrap waist design for a comfortable fit that's free of clunky fasteners. On this version we made it slightly taller and added a silicone gripper at the rear to keep the pants securely in place. The pants are trim and fitted with a tapered hem—but loose enough to provide a full range of motion. We finished them off with two zippered thigh pockets, abrasion-resistant paneling at the hem, and a water-repellent treatment throughout. Our flexible RX EVO+ makes up the majority of the paneling. Its brushed warp-knit features an asymmetrical stretch, adds high levels of insulation, and offers fleecy comfort against the skin. Added to the saddle area and inner leg panels along the hem, we applied our membrane-backed NEOS MILD, ensuring water, mud, wheel spray, and cold air is properly deflected. This is a modern interpretation of the wind shell jacket, the one you keep in your pocket for a long descent or put on for the first hour of the ride until the day warms up. That jacket used to be a simple affair — a nylon shell — but the lack of stretch meant that it had to be cut on the generous side to fit all body shapes, both on and off the bike. We've completely reimagined what the shell jacket should be and how it's constructed. We've added panels on the sides and the sleeves in a very high-stretch yet tightly knit fabric that allows us to give the jacket a modern, close-to-body fit for aero gains on any terrain, and it actually keeps more heat in than a jacket that's flapping about. We've kept it very compact so that it can pack away into minimal space in a jersey pocket. The creation of this product started with a list of the things we wanted to fix about winter gloves: we wanted to make a glove that's warm without being bulky, is easy to get on and off, is mostly waterproof without having it suck in dry weather due to low breathability, and is super comfortable. We innovated everything on this glove, starting with the base fabrics: we've used a stretch water-resistant windproof outer shell over PrimaLoft Gold insulation to make it warm, and an insanely soft inner liner that happens to slide easily over even a sweaty hand for easy on/off. Don't Limit Yourself We made this short to meet Castelli's high standards for comfort and performance in a cycling short while adding a few extra features that come in handy for riding on any surface. You'll find our normal exceptional fit as well as the KISS Air2 seat pad, which provides generous anatomically placed padding with an exceptionally soft top layer. What makes this short special is the extremely durable Unlimited Lycra fabric. It has higher abrasion resistance and tear resistance while not compromising on stretch, moisture management or comfort. In addition, we use double-layer side panels for the old track rider's trick of fabric-sliding-on-fabric should you fall. This short isn't really meant to be indestructible, but it significantly increases the chances that sliding out on gravel will mean you need to just brush yourself off rather than having to buy a new pair of shorts. That second layer on the side panel also makes for convenient side pockets, with a flap over the top to prevent the contents from falling out. For added convenience while riding on and off road, you have two mesh pockets on the lower back that compress gear next to your body to keep it from bouncing around.
