There are many reasons people decide to commute by bicycle. Mine? Well, I don't really feel like paying for a car and all of the obligations that come with one. I also don't particularly need a car because I'm within riding or walking distance of everything I need. Besides, there's no better way to start the day than with a bit of exercise, some fresh air in my lungs, and the sense that I'm taking another step toward helping the environment.
Commuting by bicycle gives you a new perspective on where you live, and you'll find you notice things you never did in a car. It reduces stress and makes you feel good, all by the time you get to where you're going!
Commuter bikes come in a number of different styles, but all are designed to be sturdy, reliable, and easily maintained. Many come with fenders to keep you dry in wet weather and some come with racks to help you carry everything you need to work or school. Both geared and single-speed bikes are available, and the best one for you depends on your riding style and geography of your commute.
